An eSIM is a digital SIM that allows you to activate a cellular plan from your carrier without having to use a physical nano-SIM. To learn if your iOS device is eSIM compatible, you will need to:
1 - Must be: An iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, or later with iOS 12.1 or later
2 - Make sure your devices are carrier unlocked.
- Go to Settings> General> About.
- Scroll down to view the “Carrier lock” section.
- It should say “NO SIM restrictions”, which means that the device is unlocked
3 - Scroll down to view the “AVAILABLE SIM” (iOS 15 and newer) or “DIGITAL SIM”(older iOS versions) section. It should contain an IMEI under AVAILABLE SIM or DIGITAL SIM, which means that the device is eSIM compatible.
If eSIM already has been activated, the SIM IMEI will be displayed in the "eSIM" section.
* eSIM on iPhone is not offered in mainland China. In Hong Kong and Macao, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd generation), and iPhone XS feature eSIM.*
